Keep in mind that these listings are publicly accessible. In this day and age, it's important to remain vigilant about the potential for phishing scams.
Why can't I see myself on the directory?
Your profile is live and searchable. A few things to note:
-
Listings are sorted by last name
-
Certified Practitioners appear before Levels 1–3
-
Search results are often filtered by state or city
Understand Location Limits
- Listings are limited to three locations total.
-
Only one location can be pinned to display on the map.
-
Each location must include a valid city and postal code.
Tip: The Keyword Search is one of the most commonly used tools by people seeking services. Be sure to include relevant terms in your profile—such as:
-
Focus (e.g., general anxiety, trauma, grief)
-
Identifiers (e.g., Christian, LGBTQ+, BIPOC)
-
Insurance/payment info (e.g., Medicare, sliding scale)
-
Certifications (e.g., EMDR Certified, Gottman Method Level 2, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner)
You can keyword stuff (255 character limit) most terms in the “Focus” section of your profile.
This helps ensure your profile appears in searches and helps potential clients find a best-fit provider.
My name isn't alphabetical on the directory. Why?
Your profile is live and searchable. Please note:
-
Listings are sorted by last name
-
Certified Practitioners appear before Levels 1–3
I want to be added to multiple states. How do I do that?
Yes, you can list your profile in more than one state by adding multiple locations to your listing. A few important things to keep in mind:
-
You may add up to three locations total to your profile.
-
Each location must include a valid city and postal code.
-
Only one location can be pinned — this is the only location that will display on the map and appear in search results.
-
Additional locations can be listed on your profile for visibility, but they will not be searchable in the directory.
How Do I Get the Most Out of My IFS Practitioner Directory Listing?
Follow these best practices to ensure your IFS Practitioner Directory listing is accurate, easy to find, and appealing to potential clients.
Make Sure Your Profile is Searchable
Your profile is live and searchable once published. Keep the following in mind:
- Listings are sorted alphabetically by last name.
- IFS Certified Therapists and Practitioners appear before those who are IFS Trained.
- Those seeking services often search by state or city.
Tip: Use the Map View at the bottom of the directory to see how your profile appears.
Understand Location Limits
To maintain performance and prevent errors:
- Listings are limited to three locations total.
- Only one location can be pinned to display on the map.
- Each location must include a valid city and postal code.
Tip: Your first pinned address determines how your profile appears in state and city searches.
List Virtual-Only Services Clearly
If you offer virtual services, describe them explicitly:
- Include descriptors such as Online, Virtual, or Telehealth in your profile.
- Enter the state where you are approved to practice, along with a relevant city and ZIP code.
Optimize for Keyword Search
Many people use the directory’s keyword search to find providers. To increase your visibility, include relevant terms in your profile generally using the Focus section, such as:
- Specializations (e.g., grief, trauma)
- Other identifiers (e.g., Christian, LGBTQ+)
- Insurance and payment options (e.g., Medicare, sliding scale)
The Focus section has a 255 character limit, so keep that in mind when completing this section. Including specific keywords helps ensure your profile appears in relevant searches and makes it easier for clients to find you.
What if I no longer want to appear in the directory?
If you’d like your profile removed, please email info@ifs-institute.com with the subject line: Remove Directory Listing
Our team will process your request and confirm once your listing has been taken down.
IFS Practitioner Directory Disclaimer
We want to let you know that we rely entirely on the self reported declarations and representations of the individuals listed in our directory when it comes to their credentials, licenses, or registrations. It's important to note that the IFS Institute is not a licensing board or disciplinary body, and we haven't independently verified any of the information provided by those listed. To ensure that you receive the services you need, we strongly encourage you to verify all credentials with the individual listed before proceeding.
In our directory we make a distinction between IFS Certified Therapists and Certified Practitioners.
IFS Certified Therapists are those individuals who have completed the IFS Certification process and have declared to us that they hold the required credentials as mental health professionals to legally practice psychotherapy in the geography in which they are licensed or registered. Any other person having completed the Certification process will be categorized as an IFS Certified Practitioner.
In granting the “IFS Certified Therapist” and “IFS Certified Practitioner” designations, IFS Institute (i) fully relies on the applicant's declarations of possession of the required credentials, license and/or registration for clinical practice as a mental health professional, (ii) has not conducted independent verification, and (iii) will not accept any liability in the event that an IFS Certified Therapist lacks the credentials or license for clinical practice in a given territory.
The IFS certification demonstrates the individual has attained proficiency in IFS core concepts and practices that can be applied and integrated into a variety of either therapeutic or professional occupations depending on the individual’s previous professional background and given scope of practice.
IFS certification neither (i) designates that the certified individual is a licensed professional or equivalent nor (ii) implies, represents, or warrants anything with respect to the professional ethics or clinical competence of the certified individual. IFS Institute is an educational institution, not a disciplinary body that assures the public of the clinical or professional competence or ethics of a person who has undergone training with us or who is IFS certified. Any ethical or professional concerns must be directed to the individual or their professional board if applicable.
