Can I set preferences for the types of IFS Trainings I’m invited to?

When you submit your General Application, you may be able to indicate certain training interests or preferences. These help us understand what types of training opportunities may be relevant to you, but they do not guarantee that you will receive a specific invitation or seat.

Important: Preferences do not limit all invitations

The training interests or preferences listed on your General Application help us understand which opportunities may be especially relevant to you. However, they do not limit or filter all invitations you may receive.

This means you may still receive invitations for trainings that do not match one or more of your listed preferences, including training format, location, time zone, regional/language-based interest, or affinity group interest.

You are not required to register for every training invitation you receive. If a training is not a good fit, you may skip that opportunity and continue watching for future invitations.

Training interests you may indicate

You may be able to indicate interest in certain types of IFS Training opportunities, including:

Affinity Group Trainings

Some Trainings may be offered for specific affinity groups, such as:

  • LGBTQ+ trainings
  • Global Majority trainings

If you are interested in an affinity group training, you may indicate that on your General Application.

If you did not indicate this preference, or you are not sure what is listed on your application, please contact Customer Support.

Indicating interest in an affinity group training does not guarantee that you will receive an invitation or seat. Availability varies by registration period.

Regional or Language-Based Trainings

Some IFS Trainings may be offered for specific regions or languages, such as:

  • Spanish-language trainings
  • Latin America trainings
  • Canadian trainings

For region-based trainings, participants must have a home address in the applicable region to be eligible.

For example, a participant must have a qualifying home address in Canada to be considered for Canada-based training opportunities.

If you are interested in a regional or language-based training, you may indicate that on your General Application when applicable.

If you did not indicate this preference, or you are not sure what is listed on your application, please contact Customer Support.

Training Format

You may also indicate your preferred training format, such as:

  • Online
  • On-site
  • Hybrid

If your training format preference has changed, or you are not sure what is listed on your application, please contact Customer Support.

Location and time zone preferences

We are not able to manage invitation preferences for a specific state, city, location, or time zone.

For example, we cannot ensure that you only receive invitations for trainings in New York, Florida, the Eastern time zone, or any other specific state, city, or time zone.

If your General Application is approved, you may receive invitations for trainings as they become available for registration. These may include trainings in different locations, formats, or time zones.

You are not required to register for every training invitation you receive. If a training is not a good fit, you may skip that opportunity and continue watching for future invitations.

Can I update my training interests after submitting my General Application?

Yes, some training interests may be updated after you submit your General Application.

Please contact Customer Support if you need help reviewing or updating:

  • Affinity group training interest
  • Regional or language-based training interest
  • Training format preference

At this time, we are not able to manage preferences for specific states, cities, locations, or time zones.

Does indicating an interest guarantee I’ll receive that invitation?

No. Indicating an interest does not guarantee that you will receive a specific training invitation or seat.

Your listed interests help us understand what types of training opportunities may be relevant to you, but they do not reserve a seat or guarantee access to a specific training.

What should I do if an invitation is not a good fit?

You may skip the invitation. There is no penalty for not registering for a training that does not work for your schedule, location, format preference, or needs.

You may continue to receive future invitations as additional trainings become available, as long as you remain eligible in the admissions process.
