Is becoming a Program Assistant right for me?
Serving as a Program Assistant (PA) is an active and engaged role within IFS trainings. Before applying, it is important to understand the level of commitment and responsibility involved.
Time and attendance commitment
Program Assistants are expected to:
-
Attend all training days in full
-
Participate in required staff meetings (which may occur before, during, or after training days)
-
Be fully present and engaged throughout the training
For online trainings, PAs must:
Be in a safe, private space where participants can fully engage
Remain on camera, except when stepping away briefly for self-care
Role responsibilities
PAs are part of the training staff and actively support the learning process. This includes:
-
Facilitating or supporting reflection groups
-
Assisting with small practice groups
-
Helping participants work with activation and unblending
-
Modeling Self-energy and professional boundaries
-
Contributing to operational needs during the training
Emotional and professional readiness
The PA role involves working closely with participants as they practice the IFS model. PAs may support participants who are activated and are expected to work with their own activation when it arises.
If you are looking for a passive learning experience, the PA role may not be the right fit. PAs serve as part of the instructional support team rather than as participants in the training.
